The Story is Shopping, er, Shipping If you had the opportunity to read my blithe predictions in this space about
online holiday shopping, you just may be thinking about the huge Toys R Us Christmas bust.
In essence, the company promised to deliver much more merchandise than Santa could fit on his itty-bitty sleigh (actually, they oversold their liquid inventory) and there were some mighty disappointed children and irate grown-ups on the other end of that particular dot.com.
It’s clear the company simply overestimated their ability to turn around the volume of orders during the Christmas season. However, it does serve as a painful reminder to consumers that placing an online order is not
equivalent to having your newly purchased goodies in your hot little hand. But don’t abandon online shopping just yet. While it may not be a great solution for last minute gift buying, it’s still a great way to have
high quality products delivered to your door at a reasonable price.
Moms at Work will be here soon
Yeah, yeah, mea culpa and all that. I did promise to continue my series on
Web resources for moms in the beginning of the year and it should be online by the end of
February. There’s a lot of food for thought surrounding the issues that face working mothers in American society. If you’re really starving now, check out some of the sites in the current review section. Many reference
resources for moms who are following both traditional and non-traditional career paths. |
